Omni Development, Inc. announced today that it has been entrusted by Id Software to enhance and market DOOM and DOOM II for NEXTSTEP. DOOM is Id's best-selling, extremely fast, almost sickeningly realistic three-dimensional multi-player first-person bug-hunt. DOOM won numerous awards as last year's best game for MS-DOS systems, and DOOM II is even better, featuring new weapons, new monsters, and 30 new levels. Omni's enhanced DOOM for NEXTSTEP improves on the current shareware NEXTSTEP DOOM player not only in the inclusion of the commercial levels but also by including sound support, Interceptor support for fast graphics, a full-screen mode for even faster graphics, and fixed-priority Mach scheduling for yet faster graphics. DOOM for NEXTSTEP will still be able to load user-written levels ("wad" files) for DOS versions of DOOM. DOOM and DOOM II for NEXTSTEP will be available soon. You can follow their progress by checking our WWW page -- http://www.omnigroup.com/Software/Doom DOOM II for MS-DOS is available now, distributed by GT Interactive Software @ 1-800-362-9400. The unenhanced, shareware version of DOOM is already available under NEXTSTEP. It can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.cs.orst.edu/pub/next/binaries/games/Doom1_2_FAT.compressed The shareware version is not as fast, doesn't support sound, and doesn't include the commercial levels. Id Software develops and markets the best-selling, coolest games for MS-DOS. Omni Development writes and works on all kind of software for NEXTSTEP, including Frame's FrameMaker for NS/Intel and NS/HPPA, OmniImage, OmniWeb, parts of Lighthouse's Concurrence, Quantrix, and Parasheet, McCaw Cellular's Axys project, and the custom database software for the William Morris Agency. ## DOOM, and DOOM II are trademarks of Id Software, Inc.
